Although only a short distance from the Irish Sea, Heysham is not wholly a links but a very fertile grassland. It does however pose the challenges of a typical links course. From the front of the clubhouse there is a panoramic view of the Lune Estuary and Lune Deeps while Blackpool Tower shows up prominently to the south. An unusual feature of Heysham is the number of par fours stretching more than 400 yards, of which there are seven.
